Blog Post Title One

It all begins with an idea.

Welcome to my blog. I am transitioning out of using Instagram to update fellow art lovers in order to have all my art, updates, and shop in one place without ads, distractions, and like buttons. I hope it will work. Right now I don’t know how often I would like to post specifically to my blog, but I think if I get something up here once a month I will be happy.

I am also working on making the switch from digital art back to watercolors. It just feels good for me recently to take time to mix paints and work on paper. Watercolors are so versatile and I really love the unique bleed patterns they make on wet paper. If you are an artist and haven’t tried Winsor and Newton’s professional watercolors in tubes, I highly recommend them.

The above photos are some watercolors and sketches I have been working on recently.

The blue bird holding a flower was made by first brushing in a thin outline of ultramarine blue watercolor paint around a pencil drawing, then wetting the inside of the outline with water and tapping it with more wet paint to create the beautiful natural patterns that watercolors can make.

The ornamental designs are an idea that came about from my love of the poems I hope to decorate them with. They are two poems by Emily Dickinson. Both poems do the opposite of celebrating ornate, decorative, over the top attention so I am unsure about whether or not my designs around them are suitable. Suffice to say I think they are wonderful poems that I am trying to design wonderfully.
